That would be cheaper than using a up sized Suzuki piston and having cylinder bored to match. People have seen decent results with these kits. However the transfer ports in the cylinder usually need chamfering a little to get rid of the sharp edge so a piston ring doesn't hang on them. I have two of these kits in my Lt80's and the other way in the other two. I have about 20hrs on the kits and seem fine. You might consider using the factory head gasket off the bike I didn't like quality of the one in the kit.

yup..needed a new piston/bore.
Those kits work but like mentioned, look at the ports. some need attention.
To each his own on those.

 

Well compression is all good now. Put new carb on and still won't run. I can get it to sputter with some starting fluid now but that's about it. Guess I will keep plugging along and see what I can figure out. I'm beginning to hate this thing. Can't believe it won't run now.

 

I had a love/hate relationship with the one I had years ago.

Stop banging your head against the wall! Crank shaft seal behind stator. Leave the starter gear thing on and yank it off with a cheap harbor freight bearing puller.

The seal worked its way off on my son's rig. Seal was in great condition. I put some liquid seal on the od of the seal itself, pushed it back in, let it set and she fired right up!

No special puller needed.
