Default Got a question????

I was told from a guy since my lt230s is bored .50mm over that i need to advance the timing???? Is this true? Cuz it starts right up now. I just rebuilt top end put new valves, valve seals, gaskets, and ignition coil. It has factory jets and full cobra exhaust and still runs rich??? Any help on jet sizes would be appreciated thanks in advance!

No, a bigger bore means nothing to timing.
Sorry no advise on jetting.

Hmmm, Really the only reason you'd need to adjust timing from stock is if...
1. You modified your port timing
2. You were running a fuel that burned slower than gasoline (i.e. alky, methanol)

Running a stock carb?
How does it idle?
How does it run at WOT (wide open throttle)?
How does it run at mid-range?

What elevation above sea level you run your machine?

It wont idle till i adjusted the throtle cable on the thumb. Stock carb idle screw is maxed out! I now have a 120 main jet and a 22.5 slow jet with the carb piston needle all the way down. I used regular unleaded 83 and im about 920 ft above sea level

Mid range it used to cut out a bit. wot kinda the same. Low range was real boggy. After i rejeted it it now ran lean till i dropped the mainjet needle all the way down.now its alot better. I still need a real uni air filter. Plus a shifter replacement. cuz the stock one is shot. i wanna do the blaster replacment shifter. but not sure what year blaster works for the lt230!

It seems to me, that at your elevation, you should be fine with the stock sized jets.

If you start from the beginning, with cleaning the carb (inside and out) and installing original sized jetting. I trust the Shindy brand, but I'm sure there are others.

Then work from there. Having a LEAN condition is the worst thing you can have. Rather to run a tad rich.

Also, make sure your float is working correctly. And that it is set to proper height.

Make sure to treat each circuit separately. Idle, mid-range, and WOT

The Jet Needle should be set at the middle setting. Move up or down one setting depending on mid-range response.

Set the Pilot Set Screw at 2 turns out from gentle bottoming inward.

Good luck!!
