Started to replace a U joint on my rear axle shaft. How do you pop those top caps off? They seem pressed in and doesn't matter what i do, they won't move.

 

They are peeined in. can't honestly remember how I got em out. Scraped the punch marks down and used the power press, I think. Like I wrote in your earlier post, it didn't work for long, as the new spider wasn't as thick, and soon broke. My boss's method is to cut the old spider in pieces with oxy-acetylene then press caps inwards. This method would make filing those punch marks down easier.
