Default 2006 suzuki vinson 500 4x4 model LT-F500F

i got a 2006 Suzuki Vinson 500 4x4 its a 5 speed model LT-F500F around 4000 klm"s
around 4 weeks ago i put on u joints brakes and tires on it
now the problem i am having is the motor is got some noise to it almost like a knock yet like a rattle
noise seams to be coming from bottom of motor
i changed oil i am using Mystic Synthetic 10W40 ATV Oil and a fram oil filter
oil is right up to the top mark
atv runs perfect no smoke or overheating and has lots of power
so i guess my question is does anyone have the same noises coming from there Vinson 500 motors ?

thanks so much for looking

Are you sure it's not in the top end? I had an Arctic Cat 500 with that motor, had a bit of a tap/rap , but it was in the cam/ valve train. Check with a stethoscope. If you adjust valves and it's still there, probably normal. I sold mine with 9,000 miles, it's still going strong, years later. 4,000 km is not much on one of those.

thanks for the reply
i took it out last night for a little ride it really sounds like a small knock
it will do it setting even in natural and at idle
and when i did the oil change oil was clean with no signs of metal or brass shavings in it so you think if it was a rod bearing it would be some signs of stuff in oil
i love the 4 wheeler but not the noise from motor
when i get time i will adjust the valves and go from there

Could be a light piston seizure. Much more common on air cooled engines, the seizure results in piston slap, which can be very loud, even if the piston/cylinder don't look all that bad when you remove them. Try valves first.

Default i think i found the problem

i tryed the valves they were set right i tryed a couple of outer things still a knock to motor
even took off clutch side no wore out parts
so tore top end off looks like piston slap for sure
but good news is crank is like new cam is like new looking so don't have to pull motor out
piston looks wore when i took head off i could rock piston and hear the knock i was hearing
i will take piston and jug to my Suzuki dealer Monday after work get them to measure it up to see if its getting bored or just new piston and rings and hone job

does wiseco sell a piston kit for this Suzuki Vinson
i will not run a namura piston ether Suzuki or wiseco for me
and going to give her a new cam chain to

if yous have any more info will be great

Default i might have a money pit

well i got her back together

jug was sent off and related
new Suzuki piston rings and piston pin and piston pin clips new gaskets and valves seals valves were re lapped and new cam chain

big price tag of 800.00 Canadian

so after putting it together and braking it in
it sill got a noise when in gear and when your on the gas

i did watch a few Suzuki Vinson 500 videos on you tube i can hear the same noise does not make seance why they do they almost like a big spark knock

Very few Vinsons in the UK, but my boss's son had one, the frame broke badly, but we welded it up and sold it to my next door neighbor, (he knew about the frame but took a shine to it). Can't say I have noticed any unusual engine noises with it.

Default i am puzzled

thanks for the reply

my frame is like new the whole Suzuki is in real good shape

as for the noise i going to take it to the Suzuki dealer after work within the next couple of days and get them to listen to it

it almost sounds like a clutch noise

when i had it apart i took both clutches off to put timing chain on they looked real good and same with crankshaft and cam shaft

it has me puzzled i was hopping the noise is normal so i can get some ridding in on it
