Well this may be a little late but:
1) anywhere you've had a cracking problem
2) anywhere you've heard of a cracking problem
3) any joint where you can put a gusset that won't interfear with removing/installing a part.
Be careful and weld light. Some of the frames aren't very thick and there could be some rust inside it. Burning a hole through the pipe could be easier than you think.
Good Luck,
Rob

I had my frame gussted by ATV Racing in Phoenix. There are some good pics at http://www.quadracer.com/projects/90quadracer/. I didn't have any cracks when I had it done. It was more to prevent cracks than to fix them. No problems yet.

Thanks guys, theres something weird about my frame though. Its the 86 like i said but all them spots you guys had gussets at, there were some there already. We did buy this from a friend who never rode it, but he said there were 2 previous owners. But i had my dad look at it, he used to race snowmobiles and bikes as a youngin, but he told me that they were fractory gussets. Is that possible? The gussets are very cleanly welded, and the gussets fit perfectly! The gusset you had by your seat clamps, are them necessary, because if they are im going to do that tonight, i gusseted the top shock holder, because to me it looked flimsy, otherwise the frame looks pretty sturdy. Well gimma some info on this. Thanks for all your guys' great help. This site is awomse!!!!!

what about adding material around the footpeg area? (as long as it clears everything still)
i've heard that this is one of the weak spots on the q-racers. the footpeg does flex the frame there a bit... it's a pretty long lever, imagine the loads that area sees in a jump.
on the '86 the front shock mounts are weaker than on later models, and should be reinforced... i had a friend break his frame there.
guido, i like the locations you reinforced on your's & noticed that you had to remove the one on the left side where the pipe goes through
