Default 2000 Suzuki 500 Quadmaster Problem please help

I recently got this machine and when i got it it had been sitting for a couple years since it had ran. It was not ridden when it was running 2 years ago. I got it from my neighbor which had put a new belt on it because the old one was worn very badly. So heres the problem im having and the same that he was having. The atv runs great and pulls great however it moves all the time when in gear. as soon as you put it in gear it takes off. I am very mechanically inclined so the first thing i noticed was that it was idling too high so i adjusted that hoping that was the problem. No luck it still does it. I can not find anyone else having the same problem. Any help is appreciated Thanks!

I just got a 2000 LT-A500F QuadMaster myself. Full auto-CVT transmission.

It sounds like you have a problem with the centrifugal clutch part of the CVT. Do you have a service manual?

The centrifugal clutch isn't part of the CVT it is on the crankshaft behind the CVT box. Iv'e never known one to stick, so wonder if someone has fitted the one way clutch, in it's centre, the wrong way round. Don't know about the 500 but Eigers leak oil onto the belt, and to change the seal you have to take that inner case off, so previous owner may have had the case off to renew the seal, and re-fitted the one way clutch wrongly. It will have to come apart anyway, so you should find the fault then. Get the manual before doing anything.

The CVT consists of 2 variable-diameter sheaves (pulleys), a belt between them, and a centrifugal clutch to allow
for them to stop turning when the engine is idling and the wheels are stopped. That clutch is located behind the drive pulley,
which is the one mounted ahead (foreward) of the driven pulley. Its retaining nut has Left Hand Threads.

Something is binding in there: failed clutch, damaged shaft or bearing, or improper installation. That is my guess.
