I have a Suzuki Vinson 500. Stepped on the brake to take it out of park and now it is stuck between park and reverse. Both lights are on. Tried rocking, didn't work. Disconnected the cable to shift manually and that didn't work either.
Any suggestions please?

 

The fix is almost impossible to explain, and dead easy to do. The problem is with the lever. Feel under the front wheelarch. When you put it in park the bottom end of the lever comes out of the forward reverse quadrant (neutral) and across into another quadrant. What has happened is that quadrant has slipped back into park when the lever is in the forward quadrant. Simply move that quadrant to the correct position so the lever can slide across from neutral and into it.
