Lt80 won’t run
#1
Hi new here so I’m probably in the wrong spot. I just bought an Lt80 not running. I pulled the carb off and cleaned it, in a hurry I forgot to put the rubber boot back on the jets not sure how critical that is? I made sure I had spark. I sprayed some starting fluid which I know isn’t recommended and it ran/idled great and then died. The compression was a little over 100. The lady I bought it from is the original owner and said she had her brother put a new petcock on it cause the old was leaking. I know these are vaccum. But what is odd is fuel will flow in prime and on without cranking? Any help would be great ! Thanks

It is supposed to..for the replacement petcock that was put on is what I'm thinking.
I can only guess that they replaced the petcock with a non vacuum petcock.. Thus on and prime runs constant.
Don't worry about that rubber thing. I leave that off.

Ok. There is no “off” but there is a reserve, but fuel will not flow in reserve whether cranking or not? Maybe res is off?Just not sure why it won’t run? Only run with starting fluid then dies.

Yes the plug is wet. Float not working properly? Should I take it apart and clean it again or buy a new carb? I took the air cleaner off and got it to start with starting fluid. And it ran great! Put filter back in and it fired right up. Let it sit for a couple hours and no start again!

The float needle is sticking. The fix is a on/off valve next to the motor. When done riding, you shut the fuel off and let the carb run dry. Ethanol fuel has caused many of these issues.
Shut your fuel off and/or remove the fuel line from carb. Drain carb. Start machine w/wot till it runs and cleans out. Then hopefully it'll be ok. Attach fuel line and go.
