Default LT80 Petcock

No fuel flow on '93 LT80. Took apart petcock, it was pretty dirty. Screens both had tears and one screen had come off the longer brass tube.Cleaned petcock. No fuel on prime, on or res. Cleaned tank before all this. I already bought a 1/4 or 1/2 valve ( whatever you call an in-line "on/off" valve),anticipating petcock might not work. Haven't installed it yet and it won't do me any good until I get fuel flowing. I'm not positive i got the valve part of petcock together properly after I took it apart. There's a thin, wide piece inside looks like a copper coil.White plastic thing goes over it, then cast valve lever which turns white thing .Is copper piece supposed to turn and open things up?

Also have in-line fuel filter.(This is going to be a really short piece of fuel line by the time I splice both of these in!).

Is there an easy fix to get the flow going?Pull spring out of diaphram? Please help.

BTW, once fuel starts to flow, will it draw from reserve tube, or higher brass tube?

Just keep messing around with the petcock. It's been years since I gutted mine,so I cannot say 100% what to do, but surely you can get it to run fuel.
Keep trying, you'll get it

Remember, with the LT80, when the petcock is "ON", fuel will only flow with engine running and providing vacuum, in "prime", fuel flows all the time, until the float in the carb stops it. if nothing else, I did see some LT80 petcocks on ebay pretty cheap.

thanks. I can't get flow in any position. I bought a cheap, in-line valve to fix problem if I do get flow. I'll check ebay too.

took it apart again. there's a copper washer behind the white- thing- with- the- holes in it. Washer was all bent out of shape so I removed it. Tried to straighten but it broke. Discarded it and put a rubber o-ring there instead. we'll see if it works. also added the fuel valve to fuel line.

A Banshee petcock will bolt right on the LT80 tank and work great. you will have to reduce it down to go to the carb. And the petcock is very easy to get. And only cost $24.00 list.
