I think welding the pin is something that's sorta just done by crank shops. I could be wrong. Wife says I am all the time.

Hmm. My last replies don't show up.

I did talk to them about welding pin. They say they never had a issue with "pin walking" on these cranks. But with the banshee cranks they do, so they weld them. I'm gonna try them, hope it goes good.

They further say, Once a crank is welded that's it, it's no longer rebuildable in their opinion.

The snail mail is killing me. Some parts are suppose to be arriving today. Once all parts are in hand I'll assemble. Kids will miss next race.

Few question before I begin...
1. The old crank seals have a little nub on edge and seat in case has a small divot. The new seals do not have this nub, Issue???
2. As mentioned by others, I'll fit new heated bearings to cold crank. Do I side bearings onto crank as far as they can go???
3. I'll heat left case and install crank, then heat right case and install onto crank???
4. Bearings seem un-directional, doesn't matter which way they go on crank???
5. There was no gasket between case sides, should there be one? Or is it just some kind of liquid gasket, form-a-gasket???
6. Two stroke so everything is lubed by the oil mix ratio, no oil in bottom? I was going to apply a bit of assembly lube to bearings and seals so no dry start up wear. Good to do???

Hope all are well,
Eric

I'll get on the head.. sorry.
1) Install the seals till they are flush. Suzuki seals have that lip.
2-5) Sand the crankshaft till the bearings barely slip on, and yes, all the way up to the crank end (there will be a space). Remove the bearings. Throw the crank in the freezer. Clean/sand the guide pins and holes in the cases. You want the cases to be able to slide together w/o turning the bolts to draw it in. After the crank has had time to shrink, heat the one case 1/2 up till the bearing literally falls in. Put aside to cool. Do other case 1/2 and bearing same way. While a tad warm, apply layer of sealant (yamabond/hondabond/tribond) to the case 1/2's. Take the crank and put it in the right case 1/2, then stick it in the other case 1/2. Like I said, it should slip right on. Then tighten the bolts.
6) No oil in bottom. I use a layer of grease on the seals. I use 2 stroke oil on the pin brg, pin, piston and rings for assembly.
whew...lol

Default Case sealant

Is one case sealer better than others? All I find local is yamadond 6. Shop said once it's together it ain't ever coming apart. That worries me. What do you all use?
