Default LT125 cold start

I inherited a LT125 quad. I got it running. It won't start without starting fluid. Once warmed up I can pull start it easily. I've cleaned the carb twice. I replaced the primer diaphram. Fuel pump seems OK. What is typical for starting procedure? How many pulls on the primer? On a cold motor I always use the choke. All help appreciated.

Do a compression test and check valve clearances.

I'm going to guess 80-120psi for compression is acceptable?

Yes, minimum of 80psi.

Default compression good

I had to get an adapter but the compression is 120psi. I'm still wondering how many pulls on the primer?

I don't know the model at all, but note on later carbs there are two plungers as well as the choke, so Suzuki may have had problems with cold starts. Primers on Hondas are push in rather than pull out, too. I would be tempted to buy a cheap Chinese carb for it (fairly amazing they make them for a 40 year old bike,) and see if you still have the cold start problem with it. Other causes can be manifold leaking and crankshaft seals, not sure about reed valves if it has them. Jack (LT80) knows far more about 2 stroke Suzukis than I do.
