2002 Suzuki Vinson Carb help.
#1
Greetings,
I recently Joined this forum looking for a few answers if I can find them. I have a 2002 Suzuki 500 Vinson auto that is having carburetor trouble, It was corroded badly and I tried to do a rebuild but I cant get it to run without the choke on full. I put a new petcock valve on the the fuel tank. I was considering getting another replacement Carb but when I look at them they don't seem to have the vacuum for the fuel and the idle adjustment don't wrap underneath like mine does. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help me out?

I assume you are after a Chinese knock off carb, rather than genuine? Most makers, Honda, Yam, etc, have a dribble tube from the bottom of the carb so, if the float sticks, fuel can dribble out onto the ground. Suzuki didn't fit one as, when the engine stops, the tap shuts and fuel can't run out through a leaky float needle. If the new carb has the dribble set up, it won't need the vac tap, so you could run on PRI all the time. Though more fiddly to get at, adjusting by the shorter idle speed screw should not be impossible. Or you could fit the original carb's longer adjuster. Chinese knock off parts have an infuriating habit of not being quite right, usually you can work around this with a bit of ingenuity. I have just got an RM Stator ignition switch for a 500 King Quad and found the wire is too short, the switch doesn't fit the hole in the housing properly either, though I could make it work, I think this is a bit too far out.

Don't think so, it will be the breather that goes upwards. As it has a fairly fancy pipe for letting fuel escape from the float bowl, (the black pipe with plastic valve in the middle, route it downwards), I would guess fuel will run down it if the float needle sticks open. So, leave the vac pipe to the tap disconnected, run the bike on PRIme and see how you go.

Hi, I also recently picked up a 2005 Vinson auto limited and it had the carburetor also replaced with a Chinese one. I purchased one off amazon(looks exactly like yours) and noticed the pilot screw was set at about 3 instead of the Suzuki recommended 1 7/8. I'm curious how yours ran. did you adjust anything? I also read you can replace the jets with OEM not sure if this is true. I would be interested to know how this worked out for you.

So I put the carb on and it started right up, I did not make any adjustments and took a short ride down the road and It seemed to be just fine, maybe the idle was abit higher than normal but seemed ok, Hope that helps
