Hey there, I have a 2002 Suzuki Vinson 500 Quadruner and I am in need of some help. It has Electric start but when I push the button the starter engages and just makes a grinding spinning sound...... does this mean that the one way bearing in there is shot? Or could it be a gear..... I would like a little insight before I go and take the case apart.

Take the starter out and check the gear on the starter shaft, I have had them strip the teeth on the starter. If it isn't that, then it could be either the idler gear or the one way clutch that has gone, but the only way of finding out which is to take the cover off, check the gear and it's bearings for damage. If they seem OK it will be the clutch at fault.
