Default LT80 Few Issues/Questions

HI there,

I have an LT80 with a few "issues"...

1. Quad tracks crazy.. like on the pavement will jerk from side to side randomly. If you grab the rear grab bar and shake side to side the whole top frame slides side to side while the bottom remains planted on the ground.

2. Drive sprocket... it slides side to side over 1/4" inch... is this normal? Is there supposed to be a spacer or something in there to keep it from moving around?

Other than these things it runs great.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Cannot access videos, but you have to have loose/worn out components. Like ball joints, A arm bushings. Have to jack up each corner one at a time and wiggle the tire and see what moves. Could be wheel bearings too.

I haven't had to replace any, but if I was to guess there is some swing arm bearings or bushings that are worn out there.

Not sure about the sprocket. Is there an allen head screw on it someplace to tighten? that certainly does not look correct.

On a LT80 the engine is part of the swinging arm, so the bushes at the front of the engine are both swinging arm and engine mounting bushes, they do get worn out and new rubber bushes must be fitted to take up the slack. Both those long bolts at the front of the engine go through bushes. I seem to recall rubber snubber blocks there too, which can also require replacement.

Parts drawing shows only the sprocket and circlip on the gearbox output shaft, so I guess your sprocket is OK, it may be unusually narrow due to wear, but as long as it doesn't come off, I can't see it being a problem.

tighten the 2 long motor mount bolts SUPER tight. That should do it. The sprocket floating is normal.

Got it. Tightened that crap out of them. Seems good now.
