LT80 help please 🙏 I'm lost in the sauce

So I got the starter fixed. Replaced the carburetor, changed spark plug, new gas, has compression. It will fire only for a second. If I keep the electric start pushed it will run kinda. Spay starting fuild into the plug hole it will fire run for a second then die. Help what am I missing that could keep this from running.

Give the carburettor a good clean out, check the O rings are fitted to the manifold and try again. If it still won't start, check compression, LT80s often get run until the compression is too low to start, then put up for sale.

merryman I finally got it to run but it's only running with the choke on if i push the choke down it only runs while fluttering the throttle but if I disengage the safety it dies no matter what am I missing?

The safety switch on the brake to start it. I got it running now but it's burning really rich and acts like it wants to take off push the throttle in and it goes no where but will move on its own with out the throttle being pushed.

If it is revving too hard at idle, either the throttle cable is wrong or the idle speed screw set wrong. Check the cable, outers can come out of the carb top when you work on a carb and you need to be sure it is back down in the hole. Inners can be put in the slide wrongly. If the cable is OK adjust the idle speed screw so it doesn't try to take off. If it won't drive, check you put the pulleys etc, back together correctly. Not sure how you would tell it is running rich with all that oil smoke.

Once the child is using the bike they are mostly off the idle jet. If it is getting too much fuel, try moving the circlip on the needle in the throttle slide. Drop needle down to weaken the mixture on the main jet.
