I am starting on an extensive rebuild of my 87 'zilla. I have not had any luck removing the pivot bolt that connects the rear swingarm and the back of the motor. I have tried impact wrenches...breaker bars...large drifts w/ sledgehammer...etc. Does anyone have any secrets as how to remove this without cutting everything up????

Thanks

Well that happens on most quadracers that have not had that bolt out of them. The only secret I have is to block up the quad so the frame is on something solid. I've tipped them up on their side's and put large pieces of firewood to block them up. Place the block's of whatever you can find near where you will be hammering. This way the impact is not being absorbed by the tires or suspension or anything else. Then get a lot of punches becaues you will probably bend a few and just wail on the thing with the biggest hammer you can find. It may only move 1/16 of an inch at a time, or less, but keep beating on it and it will come. Good luck.

i pull the pivit shaft and repack all the bearings every year. it may take some time but it takes even more time and money to replace them

I used a impact hammer with a punch type bit on the end of the shaft, worked great, if worse comes to worse, you'll have to get it pressed out, this happend to me with an old dirtbike. Good Luck.
