I have heard that CT makes a kit that produces damn near 60hp from a Zilla. It consist of Pipe, reeds, carb, and piston. Anyone think this is possiable? Zills make about 40-45hp stock so it may be likely. Anyone know of any other companies that make a kit for the Zilla. I have heard that Trinity and Dugan are pretty good with them too.

I was told that a stock '87 put out 52 hp and the '88-'90's put out 55 hp. I've seen dyno charts of 250R MX racers that put out 55 hp so 60 should be nothing for your 500. I don't know why it matters though, it's just a number. I had an '87 Zilla that I've talked about many times that was pretty much modded to the max. If I had to guess I would have to think it was pushing a good 75-80 hp based on some of the Banshee sand dragsters that I smokes and what they said they dyno'ed. Anyway, now I have an '88 that the motor is all stock on except for the PT pipe and siliencer. As I stated in another post, my lap times around the track are SO much faster on my '88 because while it doesn't have as much power it has much more useable power. Unless you are just building a drag quad I would concentrate on chassis mods. It don't matter how much power you've got if you don't have an equally good chassis.
I had some bad experiences with Trinity Racing, they treated me good and tried to make it right but I was still not impressed with their work. Duncan Racing is where I got my pipe and stuff. They offer a lot of stuff for the Quadzilla's. Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

How does the 88-90 models put out more ponies than the 87? The 87 has a larger reed cage assembly than the other models with the same bore and stroke. Does it have to do with the little black box(ignition)?

Im not to worried about chassis mods as this will be a sand and street drag quad only. 60 hp is not a number that I am stuck on, its just a figure that I am using for a power to weight ratio. I am wanting to go as far as I can and still run 93 octane. Does anyone know what CC the Cool heads are for the Zillas? DOes anyone have any better recomendations for a head and piston combo?
Thanks fellas

Arlan from LRD performance was very helpful with my motor. It rocks. Have no idea about the horsepower though-don't really care.

If you are just building a dragster then heck ya, go crazy on it and smoke all them Banshees. LRD and Duncan seem to be the best when it comes to the 500 ( if you want it to run anyway, cough cough, trinity racing cough cough ). To tell you the truth I'll bet you that Trinity would actually build you the fastest bike, they do a lot with drag bikes. She'd be a screaming when she blows. The stuff Duncan makes is mostly midrange but LRD might do all right on some top end stuff as well, I'm not sure.
Slinger I don't know why they had more power. I was told it was because they changed the head configuration, but I'm not sure why an extra head stud would add 3 ponies. I don't know, that's just what I was told, that person could have been wrong.
