HAS ANYONE CHANGED THERE FACTORY CARB ON THERE 250 QUADRACER? IF YOU DID DOES IT MAKE A BIG CHANGE IN THE POWER?

Kev,

A big increase from a carb kinda depends on engine mods. If your quad is stock I don't think you would see much of an increase. I went from the stock mikuni 34mm flat slide to a keihin 36mm oval slide. I went this route to increase low end. If I wanted more on top I would have went to a 39mm flat slide and a rev pipe. I have alot of engine mods and I had a pretty good improvement. If I was you I would stay with your stock carb if your quad is stock.

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MANY MODS. FMF PIPE, BOYSEEN RAD VAVLE, POLISHED AND PORTING,AND SHAVED THE HEAD 30 THOUSANDTHS. WOULD A BIGGER CARB BE WORTH THE MONEY? ALSO WHICH ONE WOULD WORK THE BEST? THIS MAKES MY 3 QUADRACER. I BOUGHT MY FIRST NEW ONE IN 91 AND KEPT IT TILL 97 AND LET IT GO IN GREAT CONDITION. I HAVE BEEN SICK EVER SINCE. MY SECOND ONE I HAD FOR JUST A MONTH OR TWO. I HELD ON TO IT FOR A FRIEND TILL HE PAID ME FOR A BIKE. THEN LAST SPRING WE WAS TALKING AT WORK ABOUT OLD TIMES ON THE 250 BEAST ANDI GOT HOME AND SEARCHED THE NET. IT MUST OF BEEN FATE THERE WAS A 92 ON THERE IN ALMOST NEW CONDITION!!! STILL HAD FACTORY TIRES ON IT. IT WAS ALL STOCK AND LOOKED ALMOST NEW. I SNATCHED IT UP QUICK. I HAD TO GIVE $2800 FOR IT BUT HE KNOWED HE HAD SOMETHING RARE. I TORE IT ALL THE DOWN TO THE FRAME TO GREASING AND CLEAN EVERYTHING. THE MOTOR WAS ALL STOCK BUT HAD CARBON BUILD UP WHERE HE PUTTED AROUND ON IT. AFTER I CLEANED THE BUILD UP OFF AND HAD THE CYLINDER HONED IT STILL CALLED FOR FACTORY PISTON.I TOOK IT TO BE POLISHED AND THE DEALER COULDNT BELIEVE THE MOTOR LOOKED THAT GOOD. HE SAID WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT THING!!! I LOVE THE QUADRACER. I HAVE RIDDEN ABOUT EVERY 4WHEELER AND NOTHING COMPARES TO THE HANDLING. I HAVE NEVER RIDDEN ONE MODIFIED AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW POWER.

Kev,

If I were you, I would call a performance company and have them tell you what is best for you. I had Duncan Racing set me up a Keihin. They will ask you a million questions to make shure that its right for your mods and riding style. I would also get a jet kit when you order a carb, so you can rejet for temp and altitude. Quadracers are known for sensitivity to jetting.

I would like to say that I like my racer very much, but, that it don't handle as good as my old 250R. I would still ride an old Quadracer, 250R, or Tecate-4 over any of these performance 4-strokes out today. You just can't beat the instant power, sound or smell of a 2-stroke.
