And Aussie Zilla, Don't just go throwing out ignorant statements.Anyone who has a remote understanding of the internal workings of an engine, knows the gasoline provides cooling to the piston/Sleeve.

 

I know I am joining this conversation a bit late but here is my 2 cents. Run a good oil such as Golden Spectro (which is what I run, at 52:1 with great success) Klotz, PJ1, Amsoil, whatever. These oils are formulated to protect better at a leaner ratio than the conventional oils are at a rich mixture. Plus you have a lot less smoke. If you really want to cure your smoke problem then just go out and buy some PJ1 Smokeless oil, that should cure your problem.

 

i use Yamalube 2R, I put one bottle of that(1lt.) into a five gallon can. Then i put in beteen 4.3 and 4.5 gallons of 93 octane. Works for me, works really good too.

Gary i wasnt throwing out the statement as such, (i did ask for someone to correct me!) I was throwing out the idea that fuel is or could be a source of cooling. Anyone who has been running engines for a long while (even if they arent completely at ease with the runnings of the internals) would never think to change the temp of an engine with the fuel mixture. That was the point i was getting at. I didnt want any one to think this was a solution to cooling problems.

 

OK, Hell no! Fuel is not the answer to cooling problems. But while breaking in an engine it is a bad idea to richen up the mixture, as it makes the engine run hotter with less fuel to cool the internals. I didn't mean an insult to ya, you own a freakin Zilla and we Zilla guys area rare breed! Ride on man and to virtually everyone with a 2stroke, run 32:1, it is the best ratio for most people and set ups.

 

Just to throw this out there what mixture should you run with sinthetic? Right now I am running 50:1 with bel-ray sinthetic. If I where to run 32:1 that wouls be WAY to rich. So what is a good ratio?

 

I burn belray's H1R synthetic at 40:1 with great results.
