lt500r problem
#1
Hi again.. I am having this problem...
when the atv is off and on 1st gear, I press the clutch full and push the lt500 and it doesnt move. It feel like if pressing the clutch in 1st gear doesnt have any effect, it feels the same with the clutch full that without it(when pushing it off). But when I start the engine and put it in 1st gear everything works fine. It runs without any proble thru all gears. Is this normal???what can be wrong??
thanks

Look what happen now. I was changing the clutch cable. Everything was fine. You know that the chutch screw have some play with a little tension. You move it forward with your hand and then it returns to its position. What happen is that it lost its little tension. The clutch screw now moves forward and backward without its little tension. And now when I start the engine looks that the clutch doesnt work and when I put it in 1st gear, the engine turn off. Any suggestions please....

Mine does that from time to time. Put it in gear and rock it and the work the clutch a couple of times. If that doesn't do it try this. Start it in neutral. As soon as you put it in gear get right on it. Make sure you have take off room though. I would not do it on pavement either.

couple of things. check the clutch itself. pull out the plates and check the steel plates to be prefectly flat. Sometimes these plates get warped with the heat and that makes the clutch grab while the engine is off. Mine is a little hard to push but u can push it in first. replace the clutch springs regardless. next thing is to replace the cable. next is to check where you have your clutch set at. Start the engine, pull in the clutch and note how far out you release the clutch before the bike starts moving. If its close to the handle bars you can afford to tighten the cable. But dont tighten to much or you may start your clutch slipping even when you fully release the clutch. Its a bit hard to explain but if you need more info on this email me.
