I am going to look at an lt250 on friday, it is at a buddies shop. it was serviced and the guy abandoned it about 3 months ago. im not sure the year. but it had extensive work done to it and the motor is like new. what should i look for when going over it. any special things? he is asking 1300 i am not going to pay more than 1000 cash cause im pretty sure i can get it for that. thanks for all the help. btw, this will be my first LT.

Find out what year it is, the 1985-86 models had problems with the frames cracking and also the swingarm. Also I think they were only 5 speeds not 6 like the 87-up. The 87-92 were the better units. The frames are stonger as well as the swingarm. You will find the LT motor to be quite a stout performer if it is in good shape. So thoroughly search the frame, and swingarm for cracking and good luck, let us know how you made out.

Definetly check the frame, stand it up on the rear grab bar and step back a little to see if everything is straight. Look for poor welding and hair line cracks. The most common breakage points are around the foot pegs and front shock mounts. Good luck.
