When grabbing ahold of the stator to check for any play, how much force is needed to properly test?

When I use light-moderate force in any direction on that stator, there is NO play in any way. But, when I get 'violent' with it, I feel some sort of VERY slight clunk. I am very confident that it is just the stator slightly moving, and not the actual crank bearings.

Thoughts?

For one thing you don't grab the stator, you grab the flywheel and wiggle it up,down, side to side,in and out. It's going to take some force, mine before only would move slightly in and out up and down, when I started the engine I could see the flywheel move out almost 1/2 of an inch when I reved it up,called Vito's Perf. told him what was going on he told me that the crank bearing's and seal's were bad so out came the motor and off to Vito's it went.

zilladaddy, what do you mean by 'modded' pro lite piston? You got it coated or something?

And what do you mean by modded head? Shaved?

Im sorry, I actually meant the flywheel. (my mistake on the terms)
I will start the motor tomorrow with the cover off and watch the flywheel spin to
see if I can see any movement under different conditions.

My head was shaved and reshaped for the bigger piston, don't want any predetination,I had my piston ported with 2 port hole's on the intake side, and as far as the Delta V force reed cage, your right you can't buy one for the 87,so Vito took the time and made me one it worked great,2 yr.s later he made another one and improved it so I bought that one, work's even better then the other one.Vito is #1 when it come's to speed and reliability, when he does a port job it's done right,he don't just scratch a little paint off and call it a stage 1 port job, just too bad he's not doing engine work anymore, too busy making those great banshee and blaster part's.
