1991 LT250R engine removal
#1
I was given a 1991 lt250r, good deal! It needs a topend rebuild, and some tlc. I'm in the process of removing the motor and I have all the bolts out except the one that runs through the engine case and swingarm. I took the nut off the left side of the bolt. I tried tapping the bolt out, and loosing it with a 22mm socket and 3/8 rachet with a 4 ft cheater bar, broke rachet. This bolt won't budge! This lt250r is new to me, can anyone help me get this damn bolt out? Thanks!!

You should put it up on a crate and take all the weight off the rear wheels. Get somebody in the back to lift up one the axle and move it up and down a little while you tap at it. You may need to take out the lower rear shock bolt to get some good motion from the swingarm. Don't worry it will eventually come out.

do exactly what zukimanmx says, and have someone use a wrench to turn it as it's being tapped out... if you take a sledghammer to it i gurantee you'll be replacing it(you may need to anyhow)due to bunged-up threads. the swingarm bearings are probly rusted out(get a pivot works kit), and there's probly lots of grime & grit holding it in...
since the nut on the left side is off, use a 1/2" breaker bar on the other end, try turning it in both directions, and use a 6 point impact socket. also try a impact wrench on it in both directions and try to soak the bearings with a good penetrating lube, WD 40 or such....it will eventually give.
had the same problem once on an RM125... but i did save & reuse the bolt.
