I talked to my dealer about the shifter and he says they are all stiff when they are new. Once it is used a little and the gears get broken in, it should shift a little more smoothly. They have done only one shifter kit and he said they would not do another one. It involves taking the motor out of the machine and disassembling half the motor. Personally, I would rather the shifter be a little stiff than have my quad torn down to the frame rails and put back together. He said that on the one they did, the owner was not familiar with ATVs and expected it to shift like a car.
Mine is in the shop for squeaky rear brakes and a "clunk" sound under the motor when trail riding. Sounds like something in the suspension is loose, but I couldn't find it. Hope the warranty work gets it corrected.
By the way, they tell me there are no recalls on the Vinson.
