Me and my buddy are getting ready to take a trip and would like to know where are the closest dunes to ride from Alabama? I have the z and he will be getting his new Z in a couple weeks as well. I just ordered the Trinity pipe also, cant wait to get it in.
We have never rode dunes before, what do we need to do to get ready for them?????

Any input will be greatly appretiated.

I dont know of any dunes out were you are. but paddles are nice. you dont need the ones for the front but they are nice because they keep you on top of the sand and help with turning. a whip is a great idea (or even a law), go with some ppl that have been there before, drink alot of water. and ride with at least 2 ppl. be sand is realy hard to walk home in. and just have fun.

Thanks, I'm not worried about dunes around here, I know there are none. I have heard about places in Texas and Oklahoma, it really doesnt matter as long as it's not all the way to cali =)

I am ordering paddle tires for it this week as well as some more goodies. I appreciate any input, we would really like to have alot of fun.

just to have fun dont drink! stay with in your skill. but you need to push a little to get better. around 20-70 hours is when most ppl get hurt on these things. they think they can handle it but cant. you have a great quad to start on and soon you will be able to add more power to it. blow ppl away with yoiur skills not power. and have fun and oh yeah it is the last ride that will always get u. so never let your guard down and always wear all of your gear ALL of the time!

Flatter dune areas like Texas, Michigan, or Oklahoma will be a good first test for you. The big dunes are in Utah, Idaho, and California. These dunes can be very fun, but dangerous if you don't know what to do when you start to dig in going up one of these bad boys.... The bowling and perfect lauching for jumps makes duning one of the best types of riding.....

americanBadass, This is not my first quad, ive been riding for a few years now but have never rode any dunes. All we have around here are trails and powerlines. Thanks though for the advice, it was very good for someone starting out. I guess it is going to be oklahoma or texas to start with. I'm sure it will be alot of fun.

Here is a link to Little Sahara, OK & while the dunes may seem flat to the westies they are 70~80ft dunes & the sand is powder! It is mucho fun!! I go at least once a month & on Aug 9 & 10 a bunch of ATV connection members are going to race at Atoka OK sand drags & then go to Sahara for a few days, Should be a hell of a party!!
