Orielly auto parts. They had them in stock. You will like the gear change. You lose a lot of the top end but if you ride in wooded and hilly areas like Chadwick you very rarely get out of 3rd gear anyway.

What holds on the stock front sprocket and why can't you reuse it? (aka why the need for the 7/8" c-clip)

Zookyridr, Got the sprocket installed, thanks. I actually had to grind off a little of the flange so I had enough room to get the C-clip on. That's what I get for buying a cheap sprocket. Anyway, I can really tell the difference. It pulls alot harder in every gear. Especially noticable in 4th and 5th. On the down side, I did lose some top end, but you get there so much quicker its worth it. It also made the vacuum carb delay more noticable. Feels more like a 2-stroke now. I think a new carb may have to be the next mod. Corpsie, The stock sprocket is held on by an off-set spacer that is attached directly to the sprocket by 2 bolts. Kind of hard to explain, maybe someone could post a pic.

sounds like I should have gotten the 13 toother before hitting the dunes on saturday *doh*

I'll try to remember to post how well the Z400 handles 22" Realtors with the stock gears.
