I'm looking into some new front tires for the Quadsport and I think I might just spend the extra cash to replace my dinged up old wheels. I'll probably go with Douglas but I'm not sure as to what thickness I should get. I see different descriptions everywhere I look so I'm nicely confused. I'm assuming some of you guys must have them so anyone got any suggestions? I do not race and do only mild jumping cause my suspension is almost dead. I ride regular old flat trails. I'm guessing .125 (red label) should be fine but let me know if i'm wrong.

.125, .160, & .190 is the thicknesses, if you didn't already know. I run .190's because I have always assumed they would hold up to the abuse better then the thinner rims.

If casj is tight at least get the .160s I think they are only about $10 a pair more than the .125.

No straight edge rim will be as strong as the rolled edges you get on the factory rims.

I bought the 190's. Along with the Holeshot XCT's, they make great wheels. Highly recommend buying the thicker ones.

Had a racer buddy tell me to go for the .190 as the others won't hold up as well. He was mainly referring to racing I'm sure, but better to buy them once. My '86 Q-sport already has aluminum rims, I'm assuming they came stock. Check around for some used aluminum stockers, they are working fine on my quad. Some dude on E-bay is parting out on old Q-sport, check him out.

Thanks for the input guys. The stock wheels are aluminum and while nice and strong, they have gotten pretty beat up over the years. I thought about anodizing these black or blue instead of buying new ones, but it would take quite a bit of work to clean then up and take out the scratches and dents. I think I'm leaning toward the .160's now cause racers used .190's until the Ultimate Wheel came out and I'm pretty sure I don't abuse my machine nearly as hard as racers do. I know you might as well buy the best thing if you're gonna spend the money, but you can also go overboard and buy unecessary stuff.

Any more comments are appreciated.
