My friend is thinking about buying an 85 LT250R anything we should look for that could be wrong, or any flaws.

 

Look the frame over very carefully for cracks or breaks. Check all the bearings (swingarm, rear axle, etc.) Check for leak in the cooling system (water pump). The frame is the big thing all the lt250's have a problem with frame related problems more so if they've been raced. Other than that just check and make sure everything works and the tires are decent. If not have try to get them to lower the price. One other thing ask the current owners what type of 2-stroke oil and mixture they use. Along with what type of maintance they have done on the quad (like changing the tranny fluid, air filter cleaning). Also look at the chain and sprockets.
