I am going to look at a 1986 Suzuki atv tommorow($1000).The guy said it is a quad runner with racks and hi-lo tranny.I asked him if it was a 230 or a 250 and he did not know.Do you guys know just from the few details I know what it is?.If not could you tell me how to tell what size motor it has.Also could you tell me about any usual problems to look for while inspecting the atv(or any other hints).What other atvs are of similar size.Thanks.

 

Well you got the 125 which should be slightly smaller, but the 160 is right in that size range. You should listen to it to hear if it sounds good or not. If it has hi/lo range my guess is that it is a 125. That is the biggest I have had that had a hi/lo and I don't think the 160 is going to have hi/lo. My 125 wasn't really noticably smaller than my 200 honda, but it might say what it is on the side of the case. Check out the paperwork. Don't buy it if you have to drop another 800 - 1000 green backs on it. You can probably find something else in that price range.

 

my guess that it's probably a 250 4x4, the 230 didnt have selectable tranny's...
I had a 230,,, good bike but only had it for about 3 months...made $500.00 off of it so i sold it...Gotta 03 Eiger 4x4 now,,only a few days old so I cant really say to much,,,right now,,,luv it....,,,Nailer.

 

I think its a 185, that had hi/low and I think it had some sort of rack on it, don't remember though, thats along time ago now.

 

I bought it yesterday.It a 230cc 2wd with hi lo tranny.It is shaft drive.The rack space is unbelievable,and it pulls like a tractor in low.

 

congratz on the new quad. how fast does it go? how does it jump? hehe

 

JUMP?!?!lol This thing has like 3 inches of front suspension travel and NO suspension in the rear.Ir rides good ,when you go slow.
