If the battery is good and the starter just makes one click then it's probably solenoid contacts.

my old honda used to do that,if I grabbed the hole unit that the starter button was located and twisted it back and forth, then tried the started again,it would stop,i took the unit off,and found a short in the wire, it was grounding out on my handlebars. hope this helps.

I almost forgot,, if your throttle is tightening up, back track the cable to the carburator to make sure the cable is not kinked anywhere. if not, it is probably ready to break, you might have a frayed cable somewhere in the middle of the cable line....Nailer

Sounds like you need a new solenoid.

My Vinson was just clicking too. When I took the seat off and watched as I pressed the starter button, I saw a spark from the negative battery cable arc toward the metal buckle of the strap that held down the tool kit.

A simple tightening of the battery cables was all that was needed.

Good to hear it was an easy fix and cheap one to boot!
