Eiger vs. Kodiak vs. Wolverine

I agree, great info guys. Thanks , I appreciate it. It's funny because this spring when I first started looking at atvs I was dead set on getting an Eiger. But over time I kept looking and I thought about the Wolverine and the people who have them really like them. Plus the new black one, WOW is that sharp. I thought the Kodiak was out of my price range, but a dealer that's about an hour away has them $5299, auto 4x4. But I guess I going full circle back to the Eiger. Thanks guys.

I would go with the Eiger 400 4x4. Low/High gearing, 2wd/4wd switch in, full floorboards so your feet wont get muddy. I would also go with the 5 speed, you get more power, torque and it also weighs less. I got a price of $5,149 and out the door was $5,800 including a free helmet and Warn winch. Im getting one OCT 5!

Even with stock tires the Eiger is a great mud machine. I've only been stuck once and that was because I was trying to get stuck just to see if it could be stopped. It has more than enough power to swing more agressive tires, great ground clearence and a full skid plate.

No complaints.

Hummmmmmm Daimon - Louisiana mucky bogs vs Tennessee red clay. I may have to take you up on that some day. I've seen some of those pics of rides in your area. It seems like "standard" equipment is a minimum of big mud tires, lift kits and snorkels. I don't think I'll be trying that at least until I change out the stock tires.

I am not fond of the mud I hate to wash. But if you want to get stuck I can get you there. A few years back a friend bought a new Grizzly (not the 660) and he added 27” Vampire mudders and a winch. I was riding a Big Bear at the time. We rode all day a few miles from the house but nothing that even the stock bikes could not handle.
Well the next thing I here is my brother say I bet you 10 bucks you don’t go through that. Now it looked ok but anyone who rides mud knows there are some places you just do not go. This was about 6 feet wide and 10 feet long but was pure mud no water just thick slop. Well the fool gets a running start, mistake #1 had he gone slow he would have been stuck near the edge but no he went right to the center. Now it did not look bad just high centered so rocket boy jumps off and sinks chest deep.
OK first we get him out so we loop the toe strap around him, mistake #2 it would seam that tends to tighten up quite a bit (the big baby). So we cradle it around him and sit 3 on a quad for traction and drag him out.
Now for his quad, we could not reach the winch cable so since it is his quad we have him lay flat on his belly and slide to it then we haul him out by the feet. My brother jumps onto the quad and starts to winch, mistake #3 just because your winch will pull a house does not mean the mount will. We now have a very nice winch and mount tied to a tree but not to a quad.
Now we get the idea that my truck will pull it, mistake #4 a 1-ton Ford super cab diesel 4X4 is not a good mud runner. Now we need to get the truck out! A very big tractor on loan from a farmer did the trick for both truck and quad but now the frame on the quad is not only broken where the winch was but bent from the tractor pull. Plus we spent 2 days cleaning truck tractor and quads. So if you wish to get stuck I can show you where but I am not responsible for damages.
