Default Lt 230 quad sport

Does anybody know how fast a 86 Lt 230 quad sport goes stock and with a K&N air filter and have it piped? Does anybody know anything bad about these. This one isn't shaft driven is it? Does it have an aoutomatic clutch. I have heard that they are very easy to wheelie with, is this true?

I would say 50-55 mph. If it is the quadsport then it is chain driven, kick start and manual clutch.
Suzuki made 3 different 230's one is the quadsport as describe above. And they also made 2 different Quadrunners, one was the 230e which was also chain driven, but had an electric start w/pull rope back-up, and it was semi-automatic (no hand clutch but you still had a shifter. It also came with a rear rack. The other 230 was an S model and was shaft driven version of the 230e quadrunner.

Actually, I think the LT230E was a shaft driven version of the Quadsport.

According to my memory, which has failed me in the past, there were three different 230s offered by Suzuki: The Quadsport, the LT230E Quadrunner and a chain driven 230 Quadrunner that had little or no suspension.

The LT230E had similar plastic and suspension as the Quadsport, but featured an electric start, a shaft final drive and an automatic clutch as compared to the Q'sport's chain drive and manual clutch.

The other 230 Quadrunner was basically just a step up from and was very similar to the older 185 Quadrunner. It had little or no suspension at all and balloon type tires.

Like I said, I may be wrong, but I do believe the LT230E designation was the shaft drive Quadsport derived version.

The Quadsport was fast for its day, but it's not going to wow anyone now. I would expect its top speed to be in the 50 - 55 mph territory, as lt250r91 stated. And yes, it would wheelie in the first couple of gears easily, but not as easy as some of today's quads will.

I think the original Quadsport is still one of the best looking machines ever. Maybe it's just that it's the first quad I fell in love with, I don't know, but it still looks good to me now. Even compared with the more aggressive look of today's Raptors, Predators, EXs, Zs and the like.

I had to go back and correct this just for the record. Yes, indeed my memory was wrong.

The LT230E was similar in very many ways to the LT230S Quadsport except for it had electric start and an automatic clutch.

However, it did NOT have a shaft drive as I previously stated. Its final drive was a chain just like the Quadsport.

Just wanted to correct that. Gosh, I hate to be wrong!!!!

The shaft drive model was the Suzuki quarunner lt230G and it came with utility racks electric start and pull start as well, also has a larger gas tank, probably for its intended utility purpose.

You realize this thread was 12 years old...

Also, there were two shaft drive 230's. The LT-230G and also the LT-F230 which was a shaft drive and had a dual range.

Answer to original question is about 50 MPH give or take. K&N filter and a pipe don't do much for these bikes.
