My nehew is ready to move out of his 90 does anybody have any input about the 160? Before anybody suggest all 250's are to big he is ony 9. Thanks for the input[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

The Suzuki LT160 is really not that bad a quad and the size is right for smaller riders. I have owned one since 1989 and NOTHING has ever gone wrong with it, NOTHING (I did replace tires, a chain, and sprockets). The suspension travel isn't the greatest . The only trouble with a 160 is that there are better, more modern quads for not much more money. I have owned a Kawaski 220, a Honda Recon, and a Honda Rancher. The Recon was a vast improvement over the 160, the Kawasaki 220 not so much of an improvement. The Rancher is in a different class altogether and although I like it alot, I miss the Recon for it's light handling. Still have the Suzuki 160 and my nephew rides it, I ride it, can't say anything bad about it. Understand that the new Suzuki 250 Ozark is a very good quad also but have not riden one.

 

We had an LT160 for about a year. It is not something I'd reccomend for a 2nd machine. A first quad to learn on okay but not a step up. At least go to a Recon. I'd avoid the LT160 as agressive riding will get him hurt. The suspension is terrible and the quad just doesnt handle well at all. It was totally reliable with NO problems whatsoever but the tires are miserable, the suspension almost non existant and the motor had barely more power than an 80.

 

I have a 160 as well as a bayou 220. I find the kids are spending less and less time riding the 160 now that they are used to riding. It was a great quad to learn on, but now they are looking for more.

mine will most likely go up for sale this spring.

my brother had a 2000 160 and he beat it bad that baby just kept on running. the new one don't come with racks like the older ones do. it is a real dependable quad. for a nine year old its maybe a little big my 9 year old had a older yfm 100 yamaha. but he rode my brothers 160 alot. there are fine in water and it was ok in the mud because you could just through it around real easy. I would also look at the yamaha breeze 125, or the new 200 rally by bombadier. it an auto as well. where the 160 is a manual. but either way if there well taken care of they are all pretty good quads.
