Sorry to here about the problems. In 85 the lt250 hit the market it was sold as the best Quad ever. Me and five firends went out and had to pay $2500.00 each for them that was way over retail. The demand was so the dealers could set any price they wanted and got it. We soon found out how bad they were in five months all five of the quads were junk. The frames broke the clutches and trannies were always going out. the swing arm had so many welds on it you could not count them all. All the time the word from Suzuki was it was a isolated problem or it was abuse. Not one thing on any of the quads were fixed under warranty. It turned out it was not isolated but was way to common. Good luck on your fight with Suzuki I hope you have better results than we did.

I just checked my quad and it is just starting to crack on the back side of the upper shock mount. If suzuki said it is because of the stock shocks being to soft, how many of you have it crack with stock shocks? If it is the shocks i think its a good reason for all of to get some nice shocks.I am going to take mine in to get it fixed sometime soon.

I just found a crack in my 89 quadracer. I know how to weld and will fix it but what type and how thick of steel should I use for gussets? Would a mig welder be sufficient or should it be tigged? Is it ok to just repair the cracks and add gussets in the bad spots as long as I do both sides or what? Any help is appreciated. I would like to race it this year and glad I found the crack before I did.

Well finally in June's Dirtwheels magazine(after the dealers kept denying it), Suzuki finally admitted to frame flaws in the z400! Thanks to all the internet information/ pictures supplied and even to the doubters that had faith in the Manufacturers. Without the information hiway - this might have been swept under the carpet, again. I personally think they should recall all z400's before someone gets injured with this flaky frame (IT WILL HAPPEN!). I think it stinks to be down and out without a loaner quad (backordered frames) while yours is being fixed by the dealer! Make sure they Locktite every bolt- if they don't strip'em - because nothing is put together better than the assembly line. Hopefully the 2004 z400 frame will look like the z250 frame - Nice job Suzuki! If this flaw is addressed on the 2004's, I will consider purchasing this quad (been holding out for this frame fix) unless Honda surprises me with their revenge BIG BORE THUMPER everyone has been holding their breathes for - NOT!!
