well, I finally broke down and bought a quad (golf cart). It looks like fun, I found an old orange 230 quadsport with a seized top end, got it cheap. Its all there, otherwise and once I got the top end off, it is a really easy fix. the cylinder sleeve rusted from sitting. Also, the front master cylinder cap screws were rusted so badly, that one of them wouldn't come out and as a result, the master is toast. I may be back from time to time to seek out parts or ask some tech questions, but It does not look too complicated of a machine. Not sure if I'll keep it or sell it. alot of people are interested in buying it when its complete. Wish me luck.

 

Good luck on the new project! What kind of carb do you have on the 230? The reason I'm asking is I can't find a rebuild kit for an '86 LT 185 carb which is a mikuni vm 22 ss. Just wondering if both quads used the same carb as I can get a rebuild kit for the LT 230. Thanks for any info.

 

not sure the size and type, im not that far yet. I have 2 carbs i will use the better one, and possibly ebay the spare. I will also have (if it ever shows up) another complete top end to ebay.

 

I've got a carb kit and float that I don't need since I sold my86 LT230S. If you pay freight you can have them. Moose kit and Suzuki float. Enjoy your old LT, I enjoyed mine while I had it.
