Just go to the Honda forum, if you want to know what it is like waiting around for the "new and improved" whatever. Yamaha desperately needs to replace the Warrior with something--maybe this will be it. The Banshee needs a workover too!

Thanks for the link, Kain. You've got my curiosity up about the smaller new Raptor now for sure!
My advice to you is: grab yourself a Z-400 for now, ride it, enjoy it and keep it in good shape-keep up on the maintainence. After all the other makers finally come out with their super quad, try them all out and if any one of them thrills you, trade in or sell the Z-400 and you will not take a big hit on $$. You may find the Z-400 will keep you perfectly happy!!

I agree,,GO BUY NOW!..Or you could be like us Honda fans, disappointed after every new model waiting on the 450 aluminum framed quad. The z-400 is a great machine. The motor rocks compared to a 400ex (400ex's are no slouch). Yes you will go buy things, weld on supports (if you are racing),but the bottom line is that you will have a great machine built your way.
The biggest question I have is::: can yamaha improve as much as needed? The 5 valve technology is great, how about putting a modern motor in a modern frame?!

rumors i've heard from test riders who have ridden it, is expect yamaha to release it in spring of 03, something with a yzf 450 style motor, in an ALL NEW frame. still, is this all new frame just a reworked POS banshee frame? i got tired of waiting for honda to sack up and make a race ready motored quad, so i got my LTZ and im racing that. but if honda ever does release a CRF 450 based racer with the good 250R frame geometry, you better bet i'll be all over it in a heartbeat.

Rumors from Yamahaland tend to be a bit askew. You may not be waiting for what you are going to eventually see. Remember, the 4x4 Raptor turned out to be the 660 Grizzly. Rumor was that it was to be the replacement for the Wolverine..
....A smaller Raptor, and a replacement for the Wolverine, and the Beartracker, would all be welcome, and would sell well, no doubt. But a Z in your garage is better than a rumor on the net. Way better.
