We had a run in with several Vinson diff. failing. The front ones the cog that engage the front end would round off and cause it to jump out of four wheel drive. After replacing a couple of them. the guys started using a cut off wheel and reshape the cogs. That works then they sell the quad. The back diff seem to just expolde. Like I said things break but when you are looking at over a $1000.00 for the just one diff. that is without labor. That is just too high.

The trail heads I do not know. I live about three hours from them and I never had a chance to get there. Alot of the people that come in to the shop are taking vacatoins there. Every one that goes there seems to like it. The only thing they say is that it is kind of rocky. If you want to smooth out your Rancher find a Tucker Rocky Dist. around you and get a Quad boss long travel kit. It relocates your shock mounts and gives a smoother. The part # for your quad is 56-1657. they retail for $100.00 Street price is around $90.00

Hey bosox, kudos for giving atvdep a heads up about the belt issue. This is an issue that plagues the zuki's and kawi's (if i understand what you are saying correctly) Currently(01/13/03) the belt on the vins goes for around $240 hard earned green backs, the eiger belt $180 Best wishes and enjoy your quad. The only other issue I have seen thus far is the little plastic fender clips that pop out- they are inexpensive and worthwile to keep on hand in your garage.

I think the kawi is pretty much the same because I had heard that zuki & kawi were sharing the same tooling and trading off parts. I am not sure, on this, I just work in parts I do not sell them

Hey HARW, what sort of parts dept do you work in- just curious, you sound a bit disgruntled. Fortunately I can say I work for zuki and I couldn't be happier doing parts here(spent 4 years in auto parts before this) zuki is great couldn't ask for more

Harw, are those guys with diff problems running oversize tires? That would add enough strain on the diff parts to where something has to give way.

Yes they are runing 26 and 27 in. The one logging co. bought a pair of Vinsons and they died real quick when they were used for work. They traded them in and got a pair of 660 griz.. they seem to be holding up alot better. The guys that have been using the stock or mild tires do not seem to be having any trouble. Suz. will update the front and rear ends like the ones on the early 500 Quadruners they had so much problem with. The rear drive yoke on them exploded alot. The problem was it was a cup shaped peace about one in. long and 1/16 of a in. thick that drove the rear diff. The new years got one around two in. long and 1/8 in. thick that fix ed the problem. Suz will get it right it may just take them some time.

Hey snipe, I have not seen a single diff sold through our parts department or through service. It may be something I am unaware of, but the chance is slim.

I don't have a problem standing behind the vinson and saying it is a very good quad, because my brother had one. I know he beat the snot out of his. At one point he had the whole quad submerged under water, all you could see was his forearms coming off the handlebars, and the rest of his body. He never had a problem with the quad until the belt began to slip.

Hey markdf and anyone else who may know. The issue with the accessory plug on the Vinson having only a 5amp fuse did the 10amp fuse fix the problem and do you know if suzuki has improved this in 2003?
Their website says it is improved and higher powered!!!

Putting in the 10A fuse seems to have fixed the problem. I've used the 12V air pump only once since I've done it and it didn't blow.
