how many frames are really breaking?
Two weeks ago I wanted to know this same thing. I have two young fellers who live by me and race on the weekends. I was curious because on both thier machines and another fellers I know the rear fender support was broken rather quick.
I walked around the staging area at the track and looked at every ones front end on the Z's. Out of seven of them only two were not cracked at the front shock mounts. One of the two was a brand new machine and the other was owned by a rather new rider. But the five others were cracked and it looks like any type of abuse as far as jumping or aggressive whoop or rythum section riding takes these things apart.
But, haven't ever seen any quad hold up to MX series racing.
I blame the shock mount problem on the front shocks them self to be honest. The ride is so plush poeple seem to go a lil further over the edge than they would on others. If they just got a fore arm stinger one time they would lay off the front end. But as it sits, soft front end makes them abuse it more.

Between two different forums I have only seen 2 that actually had cracked frames.
Also, there is a big difference between a cracked frame, and cracked paint. The metal will have a lot of flex before it actually cracks, the first time it flexes, the non-flexing paint will crack at that spot.
I think this is only a problem for MX'd bikes, and in those extreme conditions anything made will have issues.
