Default 02 Eiger 4x4 Problem

When I was trying to pull my friends 660 Griz out of a ditch in reverse it started axle hopping real bad and before i could stop the tranny went cling clang and every other sounds it could have possibly made!!!! Well now im noticing a little problem. Im riding normal in 5th gear and if i just let go of the throttle and let the motor slow it down i kan hear a clicking in the engine department, sounds like it is coming from the front. It feels like the tranny is missing, i still have the Warranty but im just curious on what it might be. Oh and another thing does anyone have this problem, In cold weather i let it warm up for about 5-7 mins with choke so its pretty warm, but when i jump on it and put it in gear the engine feels like it wants to miss, spit and sputter but once i get her going good and ride for a lil bit it drives like brand new, I dont know?!?! I love this machine but whats up?

Default 02 Eiger 4x4 Problem

Eiger4x4
I would say take it in and have the dealer check it out maybe a broken tooth on one of the gears? As for your cold weather problem I have a 03 eiger 4x4 5sp and it has done that since I bought it in oct. Although lately I have had to let it warm up even longer with this below 0 weather we've been having. My dealer says this is normal, I just let warm up for 5 mins with full choke then 5 mins with half choke then I see how it is running at no choke. (does it rev up with out missing) I believe the idle circuit is to lean on our Eigers and the cold dense air is not helping matters.

Default 02 Eiger 4x4 Problem

I experienced horrible cold weather starting with my 03 Eiger 400 4X4 but I found the problem. The problem is the air vent tube leading from the Keihin CVK32SS carburetor through a hole in the plastic bodywork terminating in a hole on the back side of the fuel tank plastic. My Eiger was assembled incorrectly by either Suzuki or my dealer. I am not sure who routes the line in question or when it occurs. The air vent line was routed to the edge of a plastic cover and bent hard around the corner instead of being routed through the as-designed hole that allows a smooth bend in the line. The 5 minutes of cold start warm up time everyone mentions is the key to finding the problem. When the air vent line is pinched and cold the ability to flow air through the tube is reduced. The air vent tube is located close to the exhaust header. It takes about 5 minutes for the area to warm up and then warm the air vent tube enough so it expands and relaxes the crimp allowing almost normal air to pass through it. I needed to replace the air vent line as it was permanently crimped and routed it correctly through the as-designed hole in the plastic cover. My Eiger would then start normally with full choke for only about 30 seconds accepting throttle inputs right after that. This was tested at 15 degrees Fahrenheit in Northern New York.

Good Luck
