Slow compared to the 250r's you've ridden? You make some great posts at time's BeechMan, but this one sucks! Compare it to any four stroke quad with similar cc's ( here come all the Raptor & Pred owners) and it is "fast". And no, I never said it would beat the Raptors or the Predators, but it doesn't do to bad against them for either!

 

Why does it suck? Its the honest to god truth. Ive ridden stock 250r's, including my own, and its slow. Plain and simple. Im not bashing, please understand that now. I dont need to bash and i gain nothing from it. Its 400cc's its not like its a small motor either. I was in the sand on a STOCK z400, ill say that now. And although im sure this blaster was modded pretty well, he still kicked my azz. Im a good rider, so i know it wasnt me. This guy had half the displacement and walked all over me. I thought it was halarious. Anyways, im not bashing...i dont know what im doing or saying to be honest. Just...ya ok? lol

 

Yeah, I'm just yankin ya! lol!! It does respond really well to mods though. I think the motor is way de-tuned out of the box, and just needs a little lovin........

 

the day a adverge blaster beets me is the day i sell my z400..i think dabeechman had a bad crash ..of maybe he is a anti4 stoke guy..what ever his problam is ..no way that happend..you also cant compare 2 strokes with 4 strokes..and as far as the other saying in here the raptor and predator AND cannondale have more CC..i hope they beet the z400s..but as far as a ex 400 forget it..ill smoke a stock one .....and yes they are very very de tuned from the factory..

 

The day will come. I know a blaster that runs 5.1 in the 100 yard...id really like to see your z400 run a 5.1...really like to see it. I guess you'll be selling that z pretty soon huh? The crashing bit is all on you, good professional riders dont crash, you dont make money or sponsors by crashing slim. I know what i saw, and i know what beat me. I was pretty embarassed myself. Im not anti 4-stroke. Even if they are slow and ugly, not to mention loud and heavy i still support them. They are the only thing left in the quad industry, why would i hate on them?

 

i know you are anti 4 stroke..and i think you dont know how to ride if you let a blaster beat you in a race..was the z400 even on??????just because you can pin the quad and go in a straight line doesnt mean you can ride....

 

Ok, as far as 2-strokes go, remember they have a power stroke twice as many times as a 4-stroke so a 200cc 2-stroker will be comparable to a 400cc 4-stroke. I used to beat 400ex on my '86 250 racer. Now I've got a Z and ride w/ the "big boys" (DS/Raptor/Banshee) all of the time. Top end on all of these stockers, in the dirt, is very close. A lot depends on the weight of rider as well. I've smoked piped ex's and I've been beaten by (supposedly) stock ex's. And the cool thing about the Z is that it is only a 400. That way you can embarrass your buddies when you beat them on their big bore machines. My engine is still stock and I do a lot of trail riding in northern NY and some hare scrambles...I wouldn't trade it for any other machine out there.

oh and its not that im anti-4 stroke. Not it at all. id love to have a 1500cc gsxr with no2. Its just that im anti-slow. And your 400 just aint fast. You'll get over it in time. I think your just a little too brand loyal.
