Welcome TahoeT!
There is a discussion regarding this same topic over on the Honda forum... Here's what I posted there..
Definitely personal preference on this one...
You'll find about an equal # on each side of this arguement... I prefer the thumb!
Started out on bikes, so I love the twist too... just not on a quad.
There's a reason quads or snowmobiles don't have 'em.
Just my Opinion for what it's worth....

I like my twist throttle for the most part. I didn't like it at first but I got used to it quick. (I rode motocross bikes before quads.) My Brother has one on his Zilla and he's switching it back to the thumb so he can tame the power a little better.

I just switched my Zilla over to a twist throttle. Today was the first day I had a chance to ride and it does take a little getting used to but I do like it better for general riding. Not sure yet about track riding only because I havent done any. I dont have a lot of experience with quads but I think its more of a personal preference issue. I ride a street bike and recently sold my older bike and got a fuel injected street bike and it takes a lot of throttle control because it is so sensitive. Just had to ride more and get used to it was all. I think it boils down to ride what ya like.
