z400 plastic trouble
#1
ok for those of you who don't know me, i'm really **** about keeping my atv perfect... when i had my banshee i used to take it down to the frame with detail when i cleaned it after riding..now i've got a white z400 and i can't even get the damn fenders off...why the hell did suzuki put those tabs on there in place of bolts? after taking those things off and on, they eventually stretch out and next thing you know your fenders are lose...is there a secret combination to taking the fenders off without hurting anything?

hmm I think all you need to do is push the center of the cap down and it just pops out, Make sure not to lose the center of the clip. I have had mine on and off 5 times atleast and have no complaints about them being loose.
Good Luck

The clips are push clips , just push in the center with a pocket knife and they pull right out .
If you are going to disect your quad after every ride then of course things will loosen up , plus if you
disect after everyride you most have a boaring life and don't ride hard enough to need relax time.

all i do is take the fenders tires and skidplates off...here in florida i go to croom and if you get in that orange clay and don't get it off of everything, then it'll be there permanantly..i only "disect" when i have a hard ride full of mud and clay...but on a typical day i just hose it down...maybe i'm not "****"....wrong word useage...i just like a clean bike...and no my life is anything but boring...work consumes most of my life and if i'm not working i'm fishin...and if i'm not fishin i'm ridin...and if i'm not ridin i'm sitting on the couch wishin i was ridin

Take one of the "clips" down to your local auto parts store. Ask them to match it up with one from a car maker. Some of those clips from the OEM have a center part that screws inside the clip and will hold much better. Hope this helps

jt , that sounds a little better , I was gonna say I wish I had your job and have enough time to disect.
alltho , I do hose and clean mine before every ride
Ya dirt shows caracter , but cleanliness just shows your allways in front doin the roostin.
You can take those clips to any GM dealer parts department and buy them for about 11 cents
a piece , they are just kick plate clips , Saturns use them all over there interiors
