which is the best LT500?
#1
I want to buy a LT500 and I'd like opinions about what year was best. I've heard about '87 head gasket problems, I've also heard 87s make more power, what is the truth. Also what else to watch out for?

I was tring to find an article for u, but can't find it and I will still try.......But I would have to say 88 or above and with any older bike look for cracks in frame, swingarm, test ride it make sure all the gears work and it don't sound like a junker. I'll think of more need sleep lol

I own an 87 quadzilla and never had a problem with the head gasket. These bike will loosen up if not properly maintained. after every couple days of ridin i retrque my head bolts and other numberous bolts to the correct specifications. I also change my air filer after every ride sometimes twice in one day. and i also dump the oil every 4 days of ridin. Kepp you bike properly maintained and you will have less problems in the future

first you have to make up your mind if ya want the LT500R QuadRunner(Standard), or the LT500R QuadMaster(Automatic).
I'd advise a the LT500R QuadRunner... for climbing and water/mud running reasons... it really depends on the terrain you're riding though... I suspect you've already made up your mind on this...
