Mine will do 60.5mph on GPS. Its a 86 (5speed) with stock gears (12/42) and 20 inch tires.

I’ve seen many threads on lt250 top speed and most said upper 60's but didn’t specify if the bike was before 87 or 87 up.

My question is, is 60mph normal for an 86 because it has only five gears, is my clutch still slipping a little at top end or am I running smaller tires than most.

How fast does yours go? What year/gears/tires? Is it an estimate or verified speed?

 

Tom, our 91 with a FMF pipe and stock everything else except a 13 tooth front sprocket instead of the factory 12 did 70mph at the dragstrip. It was wound out in 6th gear at that point. This was with 22X11X10 rear tires. I would think about 3mph on top for a sprocket change, but I dont have those figures. Hope that helps,Bubba

 

My 86' did 71mph next to my brothers Thunderbird (which has a digital gauge). Mine has the stock 12 in the front and 42 in the rear with 22's for rubbershoes. I put a 39 on but I'm putting 20's on for new tires. My engine and airbox with lid on are also stock.

Oh yeah Tom how did get the newer T-seat on yours? did you just put the newer plastic on? And did you make your own nerfs?

 

The nerfs and seat were there when I got it. The nerfs are home made but not by me. Yup, all that has to change to swap the seat is the rear plastic.

 

any one predict my speed on my bike... It is a 90 lt 250r bored .30 over k and n clamp on fmf full exhausts system 20 inch shredders and 110 lbs ontop???

hey.........i have no idea what my dads lt does but that thing screams....he sent it out to trinty and had a bunch of **** done to it.......next time i go upstate he said i can drive his truck, while he tops it out...........that should be fun considering im 15 and i wont be able to drive till im 18....haha

 

ok his quadracer breaks 90.....i jsut got back from the shop and the guy said it has to at least touch 90......**** thats fast

I never really checked the speed on mine but it was faster than my 300EX and it tops out at 71.. I had the 1987 which has 6 gears... I am saying (rough estimate) 75 or so?
