Why does my 230 shut off?

Hi i own a 1986 suzuki 230 quadsport and when i ride it for about 10 minutes or more it will shut off when i stop. Then it is freakin torture to get started, i checked my plug, and air filter and they are fine. Can anyone give me some advice?

Dude,
make sure you are getting gas to the carb. Try on and reserve on the fuel shutoff. Sometimes the intake screen on the petcock gets clogged with junk from inside the tank. Drain your float bowl on you carb, clean your air filter. When you bike shuts down check for spark right away. If it is weak it may be your stator heating up and causing a short i9n the windings. yeah baby!

Thanx dude, i am having trouble finding some performance mods for it what to you think i should do to make it faster, i need to i cant take all these people putting my 230 down i know its a great quad but i just dont seem to have the speed, if ya no what i mean.

YEAH MY NAME IS SEAN M. RIVERS
AND I BOUGHT A 1986 SUZUKI 230 QUAD AND A BOUGHT IT FROM A GUY THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FIRST IT WAS THE BRAIN BOX(C.D.I UNIT)AND IT WENT OUT THE GUY SAID HE REPLACED IT AND THEN HE STARTED IT AND HE RAN IT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN HE SHUT IT OFF AND THEN WENT TO START IT AGAIN DIDN'T START.SO THEN WE BOUGHT ME AND MY DAD,SO NOW WWE ARE CALLING ARE TO FIND OUT WHATS THE PROBLEM THEN WE HEARD THAT ITS NOW GETTING SPARK TO PLUG.SO THEN WE THEN THOUGHT IT WAS THE MAGNETO,BUT IT WASN'T ITS THE COIL OR SOMETHING LIKE SO WHERE TAKING TO THE SHOP TOMMOROW AND IT WOULD BE RUNNING.

THEN GET THE MAGNETO REPLACED IS $230

mite be ur jetting is lean and ur piston is gettin hot i have had this problem manytimes in my drag bikes and also once in my blaster but i would check minor things before i started replacing the piston
