So what's the fix???

I told the dealer today about the problem being the gas value and they checked it out. They found nothing wrong.

I have a 2000 Quadmaster that won't run with the control set to on, but will run with the control set to RES. The machine has 75 miles on it. It will backfire and quit with the control set to on, changing it to "res" will make it run without backfiring. I have only been able to get it to go 45 miles per hour, and that was on res. This thing should run around 55 to 60 miles per hour. There is a problem with this vacuum operated fuel shut off system.

Danfcarey...have you taken your quad to the dealer to have it checked out?

Folks, it sure sound like we have a defect that Suzuki is unware of as well as the dealers. The more info we can gather the better.

I've driven mine 95% of the time without a problem ( I now have 115 miles on it). I've had a problem two times and it has occurred when the tank gets to half a tank or less. I have yet to try turning the gas selector to RES or PRI but will the next time this happens.

I would like to hear from anyone that this has happen to and what has been done about the problem (i.e. has anyone had the problem fixed yet and if so, what was the fix).

Thanks for your help

c4drm... Same thing happened to me.
I was riding along when I ran out of fuel, I switched to RES., and continued on. About 5 min. later the machine started puking and farting. The symptoms were similar to running out of gas, except there was still lots in the tank.
I did the same thing by using the choke to get it going, but it would run for 50 FT. and die.
This went on for about 15 min.
I tryed switching to Primary, but it didn't help.
Then all of a sudden it worked, and has'nt happened since... Go figure...

I called the dealer, that I bought the bike from and his service dept. told they had never had a problem with the shutoff valve. I was impressed, so I asked them if they had one in stock and the answer was no. I told them to order one for me. I live over 100 miles from the dealer, If I drive there and they don't have a shutoff for me I will drive the Quadmaster in their showroom without opening the doors.

on my 99 quadrunner i took it back to the dealer and they replaced the fuel valve and i never had any more problems. i have not yet had my quadmaster repaired. when you turn the fuel valve to PRI it lets the fuel free flow to the carb. and bypasses the diaphragm. make sure when you park the machine you turn it back to ON or the fuel can keep flowing to the carb. flooding the machine. the problem has to be in the diaphragm sometimes just turning it back and forth from PRI to ON will let the quad run again.
