Default Noticeable difference in re-gearing??

I think I want to re-gear my Z400. I'm thinking about going with a 13 in the front and a 41 in the rear (this is what Alba recommends) and also to keep my stock chain. I'm just wondering if I'll notice the difference in acceleration. Is it worth the $45-50 in parts to do this modification?

depends on what you want. torque or top speed? gear down for torque and up for speed!

I know about that. I'm just wondering if there's a significant difference either way. The 13/41 is for acceleration/torque.

I put only the 13 up front and it is definetly noticable. You can feel it for sure, I can really feel it right off the line, it did take my top speed though.

I'm willing to sacrifice a little top end as how often to you get to go 70mph, wide open when riding dunes. I just want that quick burst of acceleration to shoot up hills, etc.

Thats what I wanted too. You might just want to try the counter shaft sproket. It gave me exactly what you are looking for.
Good Luck
