Good Morning, Here's wishing that your day goes well for you. I appreciate your post concerning my problem with my "Hi- Bird 250cc ATV". Working on this "thing" is a very trying and learning experiance. I can't even find the spark plug drawn onto the electric diagram that came with it.
Do you know of a BOOK that would have info on repairing such a machine? As I look at the different parts - - - they are so different from a car's parts. Part of my problem is I just don't know what some of the parts look like. The booklet that came with this ATV is so poorly written and it mentions ATV and motorcyle engine all in the same sentance. Confusion is the keyword.
Today - - - I'm going to start taking it apart [ electrical ] and check out each part and see if I can bypass some of the junk such as the killswitch. I'm at a loss as to what else to do until I find a book on this thing. My "small engine books are only on mowers, rototillers, etc. Looks like I have a motorcyle engine in this ATV.
Nice to have your help. You sound like you're a Marine. I'm an X- Army guy, 101st point man, Disabled Vet back in 1958 - - - I'm 74 and still going strong. Have a good one. Norman

I am a former Marine 3521 - Motor T. with 3/9. I did 4-yrs 80-84. Good times. I too tinker with cars, it's not NASCAR but it's fun.
The ECM is usally black and 2x2x3 in. It's sealed with a plug connection. Yes a kill switch would keep it from running too. The coil may malfunction as well. I'm not familuar with you ATV. It sounds like you'll figure it out in no time.
Semper Fi.
