Default 87 trx 350 problem

I need to fix my brakes, but I can't get the drum off. There are flat spots on the spline. Is there a fix? Am I doing something wrong?

Are you trying to take it apart from the wheel side or the axle side? You have to take the wheel off.

Yes the wheel side. Pulled the wheel off and the hub and I and another piece that covers the the brake drum. So I am looking at the axel and the brake drum, however, because the splines look messed up to me and the drum will not slide off, I am stuck.

I don't know what to tell you. It sounds like the damaged spline is preventing the drum from sliding off. Could you fix the spline with a Dremmell or a triangular file?
