03 Rincon transmission
#2
Will it shift into 3rd manually? I fixed a friends ES honda that was not shifting out of 1st gear by replacing the ANGLE SENSOR it is a sensor that determines the angle of the gears and allows to shift.
His had a little shaft of the left hand rear side of the engine (if you were sitting on the machine). We put a paut of vice grips on it and it would shift mannually with the vice grips through out all the gears with no problems. So we new it was something electrical. Also, after the fact, we descovered that certain years of the ES models has issues with these sensors going out.
That is the cheapest place I can think to start (the sensor is $30 or so). Otherwise, you may be having a clutch or gear issue which can be more comlicated and cost more $.
Hope this helps

The Rincon is totally different than the ES bikes.
I replied to your duplicate thread elsewhere. If the oil level is OK, there is an O ring that is known to leak, especially on the early Rincons.
The result is oil pressure isn't high enough to operate the transmission's clutches well. Usually the symtom is a slipping transmission, worst in high gear and at high throttle.
The Rincon has 3 ports to measure oil pressure at the transmission, but they are funky threads so it is best to have a Honda dealer check the oil pressure with their special gauge set...
